The Chicago Fire Department is actively accepting applications. No prior experience required — we train you from scratch.
The Chicago Fire Department exists to protect life and property from fire, medical emergencies, and other disasters. Every member of CFD is expected to show up with professionalism, dedication, and a willingness to put in the work.
We simulate real-world CFD operations as closely as ER:LC allows. Our protocols are modeled on actual NFPA standards, adapted for the server environment.
The CFD was established as one of CCRP's founding departments in 2024. Since then it has grown into one of the most active departments in the community, running daily patrol sessions and regular large-scale incident training.
The department has continuously evolved its SOPs, rank structure, and training program based on member feedback and real-world research.

CFD uses a tiered rank system. Promotions are merit-based and require supervisor sign-off.

CFD operates specialized companies. Members are assigned based on rank, certification, and availability.
Primary fire attack. Responsible for hoseline advancement, water supply, and fire knockdown on structure fires.
Aerial operations, search and rescue, forcible entry, ventilation, and salvage on working fires.
Advanced Life Support EMS. Responds to medical emergencies, trauma, and patient transport.
Specialized hazardous materials response, chemical/biological/radiological incident containment and decontamination.

Apparatus positioning, size-up, water supply, primary/secondary search, overhaul procedures.
FireScene safety, patient assessment, ALS/BLS decision tree, transport to hospital, patient handoff.

Make sure you meet these before applying. Applications that don't meet requirements will be denied.
All new members go through the CFD Academy before responding to calls. Additional certifications are available for advanced units.
Core training covering apparatus operation, fire attack, hose management, and EMS basics. Required for all new members.
Advanced patient care, ALS procedures, and paramedic protocols. Required before joining a Medic unit.
Hazardous materials identification, PPE, decontamination, and zone management. Required for Hazmat unit assignment.
Vehicle extrication, water rescue basics, and confined space procedures. Optional advanced certification.
Leadership skills, scene command, crew management, and incident documentation for Lieutenant+ candidates.
All CFD members must recertify annually to maintain their standing in the department.
